In this 3-minute video, Alida talks about what plot is and one thing you can – um…should – do at the beginning of your plot’s development to smooth the road ahead.
You know, that road of rising action that excites the reader all the way to the climax?
What are your biggest questions about crafting plot? Leave a comment below. I’d love your input!
Thank you for the info on plot. Let your photographer, who did the black and white, nice job, really well done. RK
Thanks, Richard. I like the photo, too. Glad you enjoyed the tip. 🙂
Alida, thank you for your insightful info on plot. I must confess I generally have no idea where I am going with my story. I tend to start off with an idea and go with it wherever it takes me. If I go into an area I’m not sure of, I research it, that way if I want to change direction I can without it throwing me out of whack. Maybe not the ideal way to go but it works for me.
Thanks for the comment, Donald. I’m glad the tip is helpful. Any system that works for you is good, but could it be improved? Hmmm… In the second plot tip, I talk about the connection between structure and plot, how useful it is to be able to lay things out on a sort of known framework. Personally, I’m neither a plotter nor a pantser. I like the mid-ground where I’ve developed my plot enough to have direction, but I maintain my freedom to see where the story takes me.
I love this comment. I, too, plan just enough to get off the ground and then WHOOSH! there is the take-off. Glad to see others have the same work theory.
🙂 Glad your stories take off! That’s what counts, isn’t it?
